The College of Liberal Arts (COLA) is made up of a wide variety of majors, but it is united by a common belief that the skills, concepts, and models that are taught here are those needed for leadership.

You might not even be aware of the leadership skills that you are developing.  You might decide to try out for a play because you love the theater, but you will also learn the importance of focus, the need for poise, the ability to improvise in a tough situation while you are under pressure.  You could sign up for a language class because you have always wanted to travel, but as you study you will also learn to view life from different perspectives by coming to experience new customs, different modes of thought.  A social science course might appeal to you because you want to keep up on current issues, but in the process of study you will learn about the role that passion and prejudice can play in our lives, and you will be introduced to the way in which the leaders of the past have overcome the problems of their times.  

The College of Liberal Arts offers you the opportunity to study things that are exciting and fulfilling and at the same time develop the skills you need for real success in life, no matter what career you choose.
