This is an excellent overview of five different methods of note taking. They include the Cornell method, the outline method, the mapping method, the charting methods, and the sentence method. Because students are different and so are the professors who lecture, it is good to realize that one method is not necessarily appropriate for all classes.

The SQ3R is used when your reading material is difficult and the PRR or P2R is used for easier reading material.
