Exporting Your Course

Exporting your Blackboard course

Course Export is used for transferring content from one system to another.  This works very similar to the course copy feature.  You may export any course on the older system and import it into any course on the newer system.  Please follow the steps below in order to export your course.

  1. Log into Blackboard version 6
  2. Locate and enter the course you wish to export.
  3. Click “Control Panel”
  4. Then click “Export Course”
  5. On the following screen select the items you wish to export
    • It is recommended you export all items because you will be able to select which items you wish to import later.
  6. Click “Submit”
  7. Once the course has been prepared for export use the available link to save the export file.
  8. Once you have saved the export file you are ready to import it into the newer system.

Please follow the steps below to import the course package into the newer system.

  1. Log into Blackboard version 7
  2. Locate and enter the course you wish to import into.
  3. Click “Control Panel”
  4. Then click “Import Package”
  5. On the following screen click “Browse” and locate the exported course file (ex. ExportFile_BSLA280_N1_FA2005)
  6. Once the course export has been chosen select the materials you wish to import.
  7. Click “Submit” to begin the import. Once you receive an e-mail stating the import has been completed you may access the course and view the results.

*NOTE: if you have content on the Content System linked into your course you may need to repair permissions for the new class to view the linked content.
