Guidelines for Teaching an Online Course


 
The TLTC announces that “Guidelines for Teaching an Online Course” are now available for faculty use. The purpose of these guidelines are to help UF faculty members improve their online teaching experience and to encourage effective engagement of students in the online learning environment. It can be used as a guide while designing and reviewing Blackboard distance learning courses.


These guidelines are divided into the following ten categories:

  1. Information on Course Ambience with Learner Analysis & Support
  2. Content/Course Organization
  3. Active Learning Design
  4. Learning Assessment
  5. Communication and Collaboration
  6. Class Management
  7. Course Evaluation
  8. Online Resources, Legal and Ethical Use
  9. Optimized Use of Multi-Media, Graphics
  10. Editorial Checking


Both baseline expectations and effective recommendations are listed for each category, along with examples from current UF courses that were provided by our faculty.
