Research Mini-Grant Program
DATE: February 15, 2008
TO: All UF Faculty
FROM: Ray McCandless, ATS Director
With the support of the Academic Affairs Office, Academic Technology Services is pleased to introduce the
Faculty Research Mini-Grant Pilot Program
for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. The over-arching goal of the Faculty Research Mini-Grant Pilot Program is to provide encouragement and tangible support for full-time faculty research and scholarship endeavors. The Faculty Research Mini-Grant Pilot Program will be fully evaluated at the end of this fiscal year. This assessment process will have an impact upon program continuance and help determine whether a different approach/configuration is needed to further support this area of faculty development.
Through Individual Professional Partnerships (IPP) and Academic Program Partnerships (APP), ATS has been able to address faculty development needs in the areas of program/discipline development, pedagogical practices and teaching-technology needs. The Faculty Research Mini-Grant Program is designed exclusively to support activities that will result in original contributions to knowledge, ranging from professional publications and research studies to creative fine-arts based projects. This program will be a supplement to, and not a replacement of, existing faculty development support provided by individual colleges, the Faculty Development Committee, ATS and external grant funds.
During the initial implementation phase of this new Program, we have limited funds available for projects. Faculty interested in applying for this new faculty development opportunity should submit application materials by
April 4, 2008
for consideration during this fiscal year. The application materials are available through the link on the left navigation bar.
ATS hopes that you will find the Faculty Research Mini-Grant Program
to be a useful, valuable opportunity to assist in the advancement of your professional research and projects. Please review the application materials and contact me with any questions at ext. 4565 or

Thank you.
