Campus Compact News
Thank you so much for the opportunity of having a few of your students at our church for service day. We had a great day! They did some much needed work and it was great to connect with some wonderful young adults.
Thanks again,

Bless you all,
The Staff of Findlay Senior Towers
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for volunteering your time during the Campus Compact New Student Orientation Service Day project with The University of Findlay at the American Red Cross Hancock County Chapter. The work that you accomplished was amazing and made a big difference in the presentation of our facility and to the clients we service. Your efforts were greatly appreciated. The University of Findlay students and staff have a great reputation in Hancock County due to people like yourself who give to the community in so many different ways.

I would just like to extend a huge thanks to the four wonderful volunteers. The girls did a great job helping at Basu Point. They worked hard on many tasks including painting used lawn furniture, organizing a linen closet and garage, scrubbing down an outside porch and mulching. Hopefully, the girls enjoyed themselves and were able to develop some friendships and ideas of resources in the community. It was encouraging to see by the end of their time at Basu Point a much more relaxed feel. Four young ladies coming from all over Colorado, Virginia, Haskins, and St. Marys, Ohio learning about one another. Thanks Again!Hancock County Community Partnership
Hard work deserves our praise! This community gained a great deal Saturday as the river clean-up attracted a nice turnout of first year University of Findlay students and other local volunteers, helping clean-up the Blanchard River west of the downtown. Good works never seem to get enough headlines. Several businesses contributed crews, tools, and supplies, including: a boat and dumpsters from H&O Services, help from the west-side Wal-Mart and the University students on community service before classes start. Many of them not even from the Findlay area or watershed. The cooperation of city and county departments helped smooth the operation of our project. Tons of debris were hauled away which improves the scenery and water quality to increase the value of the river to all the residents of the watershed. Interesting items removed from the river included: over 100 muddy tires, a locked safe which the Police came to pick up and furniture to outfit a house. Our champions deserve our appreciation; those who dump and litter in our waterways need to reconsider destroying the river that give them their water to drink.

The group did a fantastic job! The staff is raving about all they accomplished and the quality of the job. Thanks so much for thinking of us. It is a great relief to have all of that ready for our carnival!

I just want to let you know how much we appreciated ALL the help you and your staff and students provide to Birchaven during your 2009 New Student Orientation. I have received many compliments from many people about a job “Well Done!” Thank you again for your time and effort that you and the University of Findlay have invested into Birchaven Retirement Village.

Please accept our deepest appreciation for labor of the students who served at College First on Saturday. They washed exterior windows around the building and interior windows at the sanctuary, scrubbed the tops of pews in the sanctuary and walls in our education building, cleaned toys in our nursery and chairs in our Fellowship Hall. The students worked hard, were very focused, and represented the University very well in their acts of service. I enjoyed meeting some of the students and getting to know a bit of their backgrounds. They will add a wonderful dimension to the rich life of the University. As you may be able, please extend our gratitude to the students who served our congregation. We are grateful for their service, and certainly wish each student well as they begin their studies at the Univeristy.
Sincerely yours,
College First Church of God
Thank you again!!
Habitat for HumanityThank you for sharing your muscles, time, and patience with us at First United Church of Christ on Saturday, August 22, 2009, Orientation Service Day. Your help was GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! We were impressed with how delightful and helpful all of you were. We hope that you could have a good chuckle at how important some of the "stuff" from the store room was to us 'old folks'. I'm also sure that you noticed how each one of us had our own opinions as to how and where everything should be, (myself included!!) Sending you our best wishes that you will be successful, not only during your college days, but also in life. The Church Family at First United Church of ChristI wanted to take a moment to let you know how great it was to have the students here for the Service Day on August 22nd. They were such hard workers and so polite! Please pass our Thanks onto them! We are planning on being at the Volunteer Fair on September 24th and are very excited about it. Thanks for organizing these great opportunities and keep us posted on anymore that occur! Thanks again! The Lutheran Social Services Findlay TeamWe want to send a big Thank You for your help to our Camp Fire USA Council. The carnival signs and the painting of the porch made a big difference. We had about 40 families attend our carnival and the painted hot air balloon and basket were a hit. Thanks!Camp Fire USAOn Saturday, August 22, two groups of five freshmen students from the University of Findlay helped out with Chopin Hall activities. The groups were part of the approximately 550 first-year students who were part of a service initiative organized by the Campus Compact Center for Service & Learning. The volunteer effort was designed to help meet the needs of the local Findlay/Hancock County community, while giving students a chance to bond with each other and the community before they started classes. Thanks to the University of Findlay for arranging for the students to help out with Chopin Hall. From: Chopin Chatter Fall 2009 Volunteer Thank You MessagesI would like to thank everyone that helped out this week to inventory and load the trailers at Whirlpool...it seemed like a Whirlwind! And it was, but we got the job done except for a few appliances that would not fit. It seemed like it was a beehive of activity for three hours...WOW, with a little (or a lot) of sweat, blood, (I think we dodged the tears). It was a great turnout!! Looking forward to unloading soon! Great job! (good things can come out of a little chaos once in a while) Thanks!Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County Affiliate ReStore CommitteeI want to THANK YOU for putting our fundraiser on your email list of opportunities! I had eight students who volunteered to help with our set-up, serving and tear down and I don't know how we would have done it without them. We very much appreciate our collaborative relationship with the University students and all of you at Campus Compact. Thanks again!Women's Resource Center
