These volunteer opportunities are highlights of ongoing service events. They require various amounts of commitment, from 1 day per week to 1 day per month. ECLIPSe ECLIPSe (Emerging Community Leaders Investing in Philanthropic Service) is looking for college students to join. ECLIPSe meets one Monday per month from 4-6 p.m. As a member of this organization, you will learn the “other side” of grant writing--deciding which projects/organizations should receive funding.Tutoring Many local agencies provide tutoring help to children after school, including Homework Central, Homework Wildcats, the Salvation Army Learning Center in Findlay and North Baltimore, and the HOSTS and LAMP programs. If you enjoy teaching children how to learn or helping children to succeed, and have the 3:00-5:00 p.m. time slot available, please consider this volunteer opportunity.Habitat for Humanity of Findlay/Hancock County ReStoreThe ReStore, located at 2042 Tiffin Ave., sells used and new building materials at 50-80% of retail value. All proftis from the ReStore will go to the building program of Habitat for Humanity. Ongoing volunteer opportunities including stocking shelves, customer service, store greeter, and cashier. Cashier volunteers are required to attend a training and sign-up for multiple shifts. Possible shifts are available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Letters written to Dominican and Haitian students need to be translated into French and Spanish so the letters can be delivered to these countries. Letters arrive back from students in response and need to be translated also.
