Employer Resources

The University of Findlay has established comprehensive internship and cooperative education programs that enable students to acquire "hands on" work experience related to their degree program or career interests. Work assignments are developed with business, industry, government, and other agencies and organizations. These work experience opportunities are available for a variety of academic majors. It is recommended that students contact the Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Programs after their first year in their degree program so that they can be assisted in planning and preparing for an internship/co-op experience.

The many benefits that internship and co-op programs offer employers have resulted in their increased popularity among small, mid-sized and large employers. Nationally, more than 97,000 companies and government agencies are involved in internship and co-op programs.

As internship and co-op programs grow in scope and popularity, The University of Findlay will continue to offer these quality programs as a way for students to acquire degree-related work experience while making significant contributions to the employer community.

We would welcome the opportunity to visit your organization, assist you in developing a job description, and/or help you identify students to meet your specific employment needs.

Stop by our office located at 424 Frazer Street (UF Village) or call to make an appointment with one of our staff members by calling 419-434-6772. You may also contact us by e-mail at icep@findlay.edu.

Employers can schedule on-campus interviews by simply contacting the office of Internship and Cooperative Education Progarms. After an interview date has been established and a detailed job description for the position being recruited for has been received, we will promote the on-campus interview opportunity to students by listing it on the Internet, posting it on bulletin boards, notifying qualified students by e-mail, sending out flyers and requesting that key faculty members announce it to their classes. Any company literature that employers would like students to have prior to the interview should be provided at least one week prior to the on-campus interview date.

    On-Campus Interview Options
A typical interview day may include up to thirteen half-hour interview slots; however, we will prepare interview schedules according to an employer’s needs. A private, comfortable interview room is available for the interview. Employers can specify qualification requirements, such as academic major, course work in specific subjects or grade point average.

    Online Job Posting Service
Since internships and co-ops are academic programs, each job description is referred to the academic department’s faculty for approval. The Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Programs can only offer those jobs which meet with faculty approval for internship/co-op credit. The position simply needs to be a learning experience for the student, related to his or her degree program and have a person at the job site as a direct supervisor and mentor. If the position does not meet the requirements of the academic department, the job still could be listed as work experience.

Posting internships or co-op opportunities online with The University of Findlay is fast and easy. Using OilerJobs.com, employers may submit job opportunities for internships and co-op's via the World Wide Web. Students will also have 24-hour access to employment opportunities through the Internship and Cooperative Education Programs home page, as well as direct links to employer home pages from job descriptions.

We offer open sign-up and pre-selection options. Open sign-up allows any student who meets employer qualifications to sign up for interviews on a space available basis. Pre-selection of candidates in which a recruiter chooses and invites specific students to interview, is also available. Prior to the interview date, schedules and resumes are sent to the recruiter, along with a parking pass and directions to our office. Our professional staff is committed to making the recruiting visit pleasant and efficient. Contact us at icep@findlay.edu if you would like to schedule a recruiting visit or require additional information about on-campus interviews.
