Here are some of the ways that students can benefit from participating in the University's Internship and Cooperative Education Programs:
  • Work Experience - Gain practical work experience that will complement classroom learning and increase your marketability after graduation.

FINDING INTERNSHIP/CO-OP OPPORTUNITIES

The Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Programs provides many resources and services that will assist you in identifying employment opportunities related to your major or career interest.  If you want to make direct contact with employers, the Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Program can help.  We offer a variety of programs and services designed to help you achieve your career goals.  Our office can assist you in developing and implementing a job search strategy appropriate to individual needs and goals.  The following programs and services are available to students of The University of Findlay:

  • OilerJobs.com - As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance employment services to students, the Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Program has implemented a FREE online registration service. This network will enable you to register with Internship and Cooperative Education Program, as well as build a professional resume on the World Wide Web and submit it electronically to our office.  Once registered, you will have 24-hour access to internship and co-op opportunities available through the Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Program.  For further information on OilerJobs.com, contact us at icep@findlay.edu.

 

  • Locations of Internship/Co-op Postings on Campus
  • - Internship, co-op and work experience opportunities are posted on the Web Intern/Co-op listing, filed in binders in the Office of Internship and Cooperative Education Program, student e-mail distribution and posted on the bulletin boards on the first floor of Old Main and in the Brewer Science Hall.  Students registered with Internship and Cooperative Education Program can email or call in the job numbers of those positions that they qualify for and request that their resume be referred for consideration.
     
  • Individual Appointments - Professional staff members are available to meet with students one on one to provide assistance in the areas of resume writing, cover letters, interviewing, conducting a job search and other employment topics.  Appointments may be made in person or by calling 419-434-4665.  Staff members are also available to address urgent concerns or questions on a walk-in basis, e-mail or by phone.  For more information, contact us at icep@findlay.edu.

SCHOLARSHIPS

EQUESTRIAN:

College students between the ages of 17 and 25 studying a racing or horse related subject is eligible for The Race For Education scholarship.  The Race For Education provides need-based college tuition scholarships to children of racing industry workers and to students pursuing a career in the horse industry.  Eligibility requirements can be found at www.rachingscholarships.com.  Applications for 2007 will be posted in November.  Deadline to apply is February 28, 2007.

Keeneland Association, in conjunction with the Communicating for Agriculture International Exchange Program (C.A.E.P.), has created a Keeneland Scholars Program to provide internships abroad for young professionals in the Thoroughbred industry.  The program will fund visa and travel expenses, allowing scholars to spend up to 12 months living and working in the Thoroughbred indsutry abroad. Each will receive practical training in a variety of areas, including farm management, general horsemanship, veterinary techniques, racehorse management and training, sales preparation and organization, bloodstock transactions and marketing.  In 2006 the program will award two scholarships - one enabling a South American intern to train in the United States, and another allowing an American to gain experience abroad. Foreign scholars will work exclusively within the Kentucky Thoroughbred industry. Applications for 2006/2007 scholarships are currently being accepted.  Recipients are scheduled to be announced in October 2006.  Inquiries about the Keeneland Scholars program may be directed to Chauncey Morris at 859-619-4112 or Adrian Todd at 859-253-9189.
