How to Run OS X Software Updates
ITS recommends that you run OS X Software Updates occasionally on your computer to insure you have the newest security updates.
- Click on the blue Apple in the top left corner, then click on .
- After System Preferences opens, click on .
- Click the button. A new window will open with the available updates. The critical updates will be checked. There will be other updates and software available that you may choose to download.
- After you have checked the software you want to download, click the button that will say . You may need to supply your password to download and install the updates.*
- After the installation you may be required to restart your system.
ITS takes no responsibility for problems that incur after performing software updates.

Please remember these updates can possibly change settings, change the way applications run, and in some situations actually cause software or hardware to not perform correctly.
*Software Update may need to be ran more than one time to install all of the necessary updates. This may take several minutes and will utilize most of your computers resources, so please do not attempt to do other functions while Software Updates is running.
