Development
The Dr. C. Richard Beckett Animal Science Building will be central to the University's pre-veterinary medicine program, one of the strongest and most successful academic programs at the University. It will replace the existing 100-year-old pre-vet barn and allow for consolidation of program space and resources.
The new building will enhance the hands-on nature of the learning experience that is a prized component of our internationally acclaimed pre-vet program. It is one important reason why our students do so well.
The new facility will be an attractive, efficient, practical, high-quality, 31,000-square-foot learning environment that will, when completed include two, 50-seat classrooms, a laboratory, a pharmacy, a student lounge, locker rooms, offices, instructional demonstration areas, holding pens and other animal servicing areas.
Attractive commemorative plaques will outline the contributions of Dr. Beckett, Dr. Peck and Dr. Kerns. The building will also include a donor wall acknowledging contributions in support of the fund-raising campaign. The donor recognition will be divided into several categories:
Gift commitments may be made by individuals, organizations, private businesses, alumni, and classes. Commitments maybe satisfied over a five-year period.
