James J. and Marveline Beeson
Marveline Beeson
James J. Beeson
As lifelong residents of Hancock County and proud supporters of the Findlay community for more than 60 years, James and Marveline Beeson remain devoted to the area through the James J. and Marveline Beeson Scholarship Fund at The University of Findlay.
Mr. Beeson, a native of Arcadia, moved to Findlay to work as an accountant for Marathon Oil Company where he remained until his retirement in 1971. Mrs. Beeson, a former resident of Rawson, joined her husband in Findlay and was employed as a secretary.
Outside of work, the Beesons enjoyed following Findlay sports and held season passes to the Findlay Oilers football and basketball games. Conservative in their nature, the couple preferred the simple life and often spent time fishing and visiting their cottage in Indiana.
With their passing, the Beesons expressed their favor toward The University of Findlay through a bequest of $324,000. The James J. and Marveline Beeson Scholarship Fund was created to fulfill their desire to financially assist local students seeking higher education. The couple’s strong loyalty to the area requires the recipient of the scholarship to be a graduate of a high school in Hancock County.
Through his living trust, Mr. Beeson also presented money to various organizations in his hometown including Arcadia Local School, Arcadia Cemetery and Arcadia’s Trinity Lutheran and United Methodist churches.
