Wayne E. Baltzell Hospitality ScholarshipEstablished by Wayne, his loving family and friends, the Wayne E. Baltzell Hospitality Scholarship Endowment Fund assists students in the Hospitality Management Program at The University of Findlay. Wayne found a “job” he totally loved at The University of Findlay. He was the kitchen steward and purchasing manager for UF’s hospitality management program from October 2004 until his passing in November 2007. Prior to coming to UF, Wayne had a 43-year career with Marathon Oil Co. Wayne was in his element in the food area and enjoyed being with and guiding/teaching young people, as he mentored many at both Marathon and the University. Buchenroth ScholarshipThe friends and students of Ken Buchenroth established the Dr. Kenneth J. Buchenroth Scholarship Endowment Fund in his honor. Dr. Buchenroth began his full-time teaching career at Findlay College in 1970 as assistant professor of business administration. He taught accounting until he retired in 1992, after 22 years of much enjoyment in relating to and advising students and touching countless lives with his inspiration and friendship. Dr. Buchenroth was recognized by the University in 1989 with the Founders Academic Excellence Award and in 1992 with an honorary doctor of accountancy degree. It also brings a variety of people together who share different ideas based upon their own areas of experience in the working world. Thomas B. Donnell Business Leadership AwardThe Thomas B. Donnell Business Leadership Award was established by Thomas B. Donnell ’70. Mr. Donnell received a Doctor of Financial Management degree in 1998. Recipients must be pursuing a degree in the business administration program within the College of Business, be in their third year of study at UF and have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Dr. Vernon E. Garner Endowed Fund for Entrepreneurial ExcellenceThis fund has been established through the generosity and foresight of Dr. Garner and is designed to encourage entrepreneurial initiatives and ensure that such endeavors are grounded in good business practice and firm ethical foundations. It will be used to create a student entrepreneurial financing program to help incubate student-driven start-up businesses as part of the undergraduate educational experience. Interested students should contact the Dean of the College of Business for further guidelines. Gupta Business Faculty Global Studies EndowmentIn conjunction with the 125th Endowed Funds Drive and the Give Voice to your Values Campaign, Dr. Shiv Gupta and friends established the Gupta Business Faculty Global Studies Endowment Fund. This fund was established to help support full-time faculty who are interested in traveling abroad, as a group, to learn more about other countries' cultures. Prior to retirement, he was Vice President of Finance. Mr. Jackson was an educator by avocation, spending a lifetime of reading, study and service. January ’64 ScholarshipIn conjunction with the 125th Endowed Funds Drive, the Janet R. January ’64 Scholarship Endowment Fund was established by her children: Sara Hingson BA ’93, MA ’96, Scott Hingson, Bonnie ’91 and Barry Hamilton, and Susan and Mark ’88 Marshall, and their families, in gratitude for her inspiration and encouragement in the completion of their higher education degrees. Janet is proud that her seven children and their spouses have achieved a total of eight bachelor’s and four master’s degrees. This fund honors her with a lasting legacy at her alma mater. It is her children’s desire that Janet’s philanthropic nature be recognized with the creation of this endowed fund and that many future students will benefit from this scholarship created in her honor. Janet is the owner/operator of January Accounting and Tax Services in Findlay. Recipients must be full-time students majoring in accounting and have attended a high school in Findlay or Hancock County, Ohio. He gave generously of his time and resources to support the college and assist students. He was instrumental in establishing the endowment policy at The University of Findlay and was a very successful businessman. Mr. Macklin received a Doctor of Laws degree in 1979, and Mrs. Macklin served as a UF trustee from 1986-89. Because of Mr. Macklin’s distinguished career as an executive leader in corporate finance, capital formation, international banking and the National Association of Securities Dealers, this award is given annually to business students with outstanding academic records.Fund Balance as of 6/30/11 - $28,698Dwight '73 and Alice Miller ScholarshipThis fund was established in conjunction with the 125th Endowed Fund Drive of The University of Findlay to support African-American students who are majoring in business. Mr. and Mrs. Miller created this scholarship because they wanted to give students the opportunity to be successful.Mr. Miller is a 1973 graduate of Findlay College with a major in accounting and is currently serving on The University of Findlay's Board of Trustees. Mrs. Miller is her husband's business partner, and they have achieved the American dream of success through entrepreneurship and hard work. Jessica and James Moses Business ScholarshipThis fund has been established in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Moses by their daughter, Pamela K. Beall. Beall is a 1978 graduate of Findlay College and a member of the Board of Trustees of The University of Findlay. Jessica (Lewis) Moses was a 1969 graduate of Findlay College, and her husband, James Moses, was an ardent believer in the free market system. The scholarship is to assist business students who have an accounting and/or economics major, and are active in SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). Nesler Scholarship Endowment Fund at The University of Findlay. Tim and Melinda support academic excellence and the associated belief that education is an individual’s most prized possession. This scholarship is also a method by which they can share the excellent education they received from The University of Findlay. Recipients must be pursuing a major within the College of Business, with preference given to those majoring in marketing.
