Transfer and Transient Information

AP/CLEP/Proficiency Examinations/International Baccalaureate
Total credit hours earned toward a Findlay Bachelor's degree by examination, advanced placement, experiential learning credits, International Baccalaureate Organization's Diploma Program, or transfer of extension or correspondence credit may not exceed 30 semester hours (15 hours for an Associate's degree).  Any credit is subject to approval of the College Dean, the Registrar, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
 
Advanced Placement (AP) Program
How do I receive college credit from the Advanced Placement (AP) Program?  
Based on a student’s qualifying AP score(s), The University of Findlay will award college credit to a student’s academic record. Credit will be awarded based on the “College Grade Report” that the University receives from the AP Program’s national office. Credit and/or waiver may be given for grades of three or better upon evaluation by the appropriate college dean.

How does The University of Findlay get my AP Scores? 
When you are taking the AP Exam, you request that your score report be sent to The University of Findlay, school code 1223.

What do I do if I did not designate The University of Findlay as a recipient of my AP Score Report? 
If you did not designate The University of Findlay as a score recipient, request an additional score report by contacting:

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
How do I receive college credit from the College Level Examination Program (CLEP)? 
Based on a student’s qualifying CLEP score(s), The University of Findlay will award college credit to a student’s academic record. Credit will be awarded based on the official “CLEP Transcript” that the University receives from the CLEP Program.  Nationally normed CLEP examinations are given to validate knowledge of both general and specific subject areas. CLEP exams may not be taken in areas already successfully completed for course credit.

How does The University of Findlay get my CLEP scores? 
When you take a CLEP exam, you should request that your score report be sent to The University of Findlay, school code 1223.   

What do I do if I did not designate The University of Findlay as a recipient of my CLEP Score Report? 
If you did not designate The University of Findlay as a score recipient, order an additional transcript using the CLEP Transcript Request form.

There will be a fee due to CLEP when ordering additional transcripts.    

I took CLEP tests through the Dantes Program. How do I order Dantes transcripts? 
Military personnel can get information on ordering a Dantes Transcript by following the links for the Dantes Transcript Request Form.

Proficiency Examinations
Examinations to demonstrate subject matter competency may be taken for credit or non-credit validation for a small fee. Such examinations may not be used to raise an existing grade. A grade of "C" is the minimum acceptable grade for credits earned through the examination.

All proficiency examinations must be taken within the first week of a term and a copy placed on file in the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Any credit is subject to approval of the College Dean, the Registrar, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

If you are interested in taking a proficiency examination, please follow these steps:

  1. Determine the faculty member who will be administering the examination,
  2. Go to the Business Office and pay the examination fee,
  3. Take the form from the Business Office and have the appropriate individuals sign off on the form after the examination is completed, and
  4. Turn this form in to the Office of the Registrar for final processing.
International Baccalaureate Organization's Diploma Program (IBODP)
Students completing IBODP higher-level subjects may be eligible to receive advanced standing and/or college credit by submitting the results of the IBODP.  Credit and/or waiver may be given for grades of five (5) or better upon evaluation by the appropriate college dean.
