The University of Findlay has achieved a reputation as an outstanding institution of higher education.  Our reputation is specific to the name of The University of Findlay and also is represented by the seal, trademarks, logos, and service marks used by the University.

The University of Findlay owns a number of identifying marks, the use of which is controlled d by the University Bookstore.  It has been deemed important that the University maintains control over the use of its trademarks.

The University Bookstore provides a framework for protecting the reputation and image of the University by managing the use of its names, logos and crests on merchants.  This is intended to insure that products bearing The University of Findlay name, or any variations there of, are made in a manner that is consistent with the values of the University. also, as the use of our name and logs enhance and promote the University's image, we must be able to guarantee that the merchandize is of good quality, and that the design s are appropriate and proper representations of the actual creates or logos.  Further, it is necessary that improper uses of the University trademark be discontinued, which will also result in additional revenue and closet savings for the University.

The use of the University Trademark in conjunction with a product or service by an individual, group or corporate may potentially damage hard=earned reputation.  For this reason, The University of Findlay has found it necessary to take action in order to protect the University's Trademarks under applicable federal and sate law.

The purpose of this letter is to provide guidance re: the restrictions as well as the permissable use, of the University's names and marks, and clarify responsibility for granting permission to use identifying marks of the University. Any individual, organization or company, within or outside of the University, wishing to use The University of Findlay's marks must go through the University Bookstore who will act as the regulatory in conjunction with the Business Office.  By using the University Bookstore as the central ordering office for the University, it will enable each cost center to reduce their expenses and take advantage of the Bookstore's volumn purchasing.

Any University debarment currently offering for sale, or use in promotional activities, any products bearing or containing a mark belonging to the University shall not record such products, nor offer any new products bearing or containing a University mark, unless the department involved and the University Bookstore jointly determine that is is in the best interest of the University to temporarily waive the restrictions on such use.
