About the Student Office of Advocacy and Retention

The Student Office of Advocacy and Retention is here for all undergraduate students, but especially for freshmen.

The freshman year is the most challenging time for a college student. The transition from high school to college is fun and exciting, yet it can be difficult, stressful and filled with anxiety. If challenges arise it is important to respond as quickly as possible. That is where we can help. Students come to the office with concerns like homesickness, roommate conflicts, financial issues, test anxiety, time management and family problems. Sometimes they just need someone to listen.

The Director for the Student Office of Advocacy and Retention is available to help all students with whatever the issue or challenge, and if necessary, the office helps “connect” students to the people or places on campus that offer specialized help and guidance in solving problems.

We want to help students make the adjustment to college life and have the best possible college experience. Our commitment is to help the students have a positive and fulfilling educational experience at The University of Findlay.
