FGCI Action Groups - Energy

The initial goal of this action sub-committee is to calculate the "carbon footprint" of the university. This process includes calculating the total energy consumption of our physical plant as well as energy use by faculty, staff and students. An attendant goal is to develop plans and make suggestions about ways to reduce energy use on campus through implementation of energy saving technologies and encouraging "energy saving" behavioral changes by all professionals and students associated with the university. Reduce usage of traditional energy, investigate and implement alternative energy sources.

Current projects are

  • Gathering data from different campus sources to calculate the carbon footprint
  • Implementing energy saving measures in the Alumni Memorial Union which is our designated "green" building for the 2008-09 school year.
