Grant Concept Development Form
In order to initiate the approval process to begin writing a proposal, the Principal Investigator (PI) must fill out the
Grant Concept Development Form
in as much detail as possible. This form gives the PI a general idea of the things that will be needed to complete most grant proposals and allows for meaningful dialogue to take place between the PI and the Director of Grants or the PI and Dean(s). Along with solidifying the project goals, objectives, activities, outcomes and timeline, this form assists the PI in determining the cost of the project. These costs must be approved by the Dean(s) and Vice President(s) prior to being submitted to the Director of Grants. By adhering to these steps, the PI ensures that the project has the approval of university administration and that any costs associated with it have been authorized.
The Director of Grants is available to discuss any ideas prior to filling out the form. She can be reached at 419-423-4429 or
