Off-Campus Users

As an off-campus student, you have access to the resources and services you will need to do your research. This includes access to full text articles, and access to books and other materials from the OhioLINK Library Catalog. To access our databases, see Off-Campus Database Access. To request books through OhioLINK, use the barcode on the backside of your Oiler OneCard or see Obtaining a Barcode.

Accessing Articles
If you are looking for articles on a particular topic, use one of the article databases to which Shafer Library subscribes. These commercial databases index articles from thousands of magazines, journals, newspapers, newsletters, and other documents (depending upon the database).

In addition to telling you where you can find a particular article, many of these databases provide the full text of articles.

Begin your search from the Shafer Library home page:

  1. Click on Article Databases- Journals, Magazines, & Newspapers
  2. Choose Databases by Subject and then topic area.
  3. Click on the title of a database.

If you have an article citation and want to find out if the full text is available in any of the Article Databases or in Shafer Library, search Journal Finder.

Obtaining Books
You may borrow books and other library materials by using the OhioLINK Library Catalog. Delivery of materials is limited to OhioLINK Institutions. So when you request an item and specify the pickup location, choose the institution nearest to you. See Requesting Books Through OhioLINK.

If you live outside Ohio and do not live near an OhioLINK institution, you will need to use the services of your nearest library. Ask them about interlibrary loans.
