About School Tours

Kids Talk

I learned it takes a lot of work to make a really good illustration. (Richele)

I appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to give us a tour…because it really helped having a guide that knew what she was talking about….I really had no idea that there were that many ways to draw a picture. (Katelyn)

I learned new ideas for my books, and I feel that will overall increase the enjoyment and pride I have in it. …I know it was probably a hassle for you to take the time to lead 40 plus kids around and teach them all that you can about something that you have been studying about for a long time. (Alex)

I enjoyed being able to ask questions and learn the answers. (Deedee)

I learned that it is easier to draw a picture if you do the background first. This trip to Mazza is going to help me with the book I am illustrating because I am going to draw the forest in different perspectives. (Eric)

When we looked at Jan Brett’s borders, I decided that’s how I would do my book. I’ve thought of some intricate borders so far. (Maggie)

I really appreciate how much time you devote to allow people to learn more about art. (Karlie)

Even though some of the pictures in the gallery were very beautiful, I highly doubt that mine will be that great. I really enjoyed having the time to look at the pictures and try to feel the depth of the picture. (Jessica)

The visit inspired me and made me think that I could make my pictures look as good as I wanted them to. (Jack)

This was a very neat trip, unlike any other I have ever taken and I enjoyed it. (Amelia)

This tour has helped me realize all the steps and hard work that has to be put into a book.  In addition, I believe I have more respect for authors and illustrators now. (Sarah)

I hope the tour was as fun for you as it was for us. (Connor)

I would like to thank you for the fantastic time and hope that you continue your great volunteer work. (Ben)

I am glad that you volunteered to do this because without you we wouldn’t have been able to come. (Lauren)

My mom said me and my family will come. There’s six people in my family. (Gabreal)

Thank you for teaching us so much stuff! (Lexi)

I learned that the middle of the book was called the gutter. I know what anonymous means. (Dale)

And now I know more about books than my whole family. (Nick)

Thank you for letting us look at other people's pictures. (Jordan)

The people made the pictures look good. (Brandon)

Even though I have been there four times, I still learned something new. I think it is really cool that you can answer almost everybody’s questions. (Stacie)

I like the art project. I had a blast. Thanks. (Stepanie)

I like how they make them so real. (Levi)

I hope that I can come another time with my family and friends just like I did with my class. (Kala)

It was nice of you to do a nice thing for all of us. (Gabe)

There was some pictures that I like because I read them at my school. (Anne)

I liked those books. I like books. Your books are great! I like being there. (Beatriz)

I had so much fun. I hope you like us too! (Grace)

I had fun. Did you? I did. (Christian)

I liked how the pictures were made. Have you seen most of the artists? (Teasla)

We liked how the pictures were made into books. (Nick)
