WHERE CAN I GO?
You can go almost anywhere in the world for your education abroad
experience. Findlay students have studied overseas in
Australia, Mexico, Italy, Japan, Peru, Thailand, England, India, Honduras, Argentina, and many other countries in recent years.
WHICH PROGRAM SHOULD I CHOOSE?
You have lots of choices. You can choose from
business schools in England to language schools in Asia to art schools
in Italy! You can choose from programs which run for a few weeks to a
few months to a semester or for even a whole year. Programs can also involve
service, internships and teaching. The Office of International Education will help you select the best program for you.
DO I HAVE TO SPEAK A FOREIGN LANGUAGE?
No.
While knowing a foreign language is always helpful, most programs offer support services and courses in English.
CAN I HAVE MY CREDIT TRANSFERRED?
Yes,
you can. If you attend an accredited program, you may receive transfer
credits for general education and major requirements. There are
procedures that you will need to follow at UF and while abroad to make
sure that you receive the appropriate credit.
WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO GRADUATE ON TIME?
Sure. It will take some careful planning, but there is no reason why your time abroad should delay your graduation.
CAN I AFFORD IT?
Costs
and financial aid for study abroad vary significantly. Students may use federal and state aid and there
are many scholarships available. The needs and qualifications of each
student need to be determined on an individual basis. For details, please contact the Office of International Education and the UF Financial Aid Office.
WILL IT HELP ME IN MY CAREER?
Of
course! With the world getting smaller, many employers consider
overseas experience invaluable. It may be the one aspect of your resume
that separates you from all of the other candidates competing for a job.
