The future is bright!
Students who are pursuing a bachelor of science degree in chemistry can choose from a variety of challenging and lucrative careers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that there will be a 4 per cent increase in jobs for chemists, and a 10 per cent increase in jobs for material scientists between 2010-2020. More than 4,000 jobs are expected to be added in this time period.
Chemists with advanced degrees will continue to fill most senior research and upper management positions. The employment outlook is brighter for those with advanced degrees. Environmental research is creating more opportunities for chemists and majors in the other sciences.
