Computer Science - information assurance emphasis

In today's high-technology environment, homes and businesses must be constantly vigilant about computer security and information management. The demand for trained individuals in this area will continue to grow.  Completion of the information assurance emphasis at The University of Findlay can increase your marketability upon graduation.


An emphasis in information assurance prepares students for careers as information security analysts in addition to software engineering.  Graduates will be able to manage risks associated with the use, processing, storage and transmission of information or data and the systems and processes used for these purposes.  This curriculum has been certified by the Committee on National Security Systems and The National Security Agency as one of the elite programs nationwide, meeting the National Training Standard for Information Systems Security Professionals, NSTSSI 4011.

  • Secure payments, encryption and authentication

Career opportunities are plentiful!

There are several areas of focus in the field of information assurance, including support services, sales, consulting or network systems.  Depending on your focus and geographic location, a starting salary of $45,000-$60,000 per year is a reasonable expectation.
