What are the placement tests for? 


Placement tests are utilized for evaluation of your ability to be placed in coursework at Findlay. Placement in a course with the appropriate level of challenge is vital to your success. By having the results of the various tests, academic advisors are better able to advise for class registration.

What tests are there and who has to take them?

Chemistry 

Students' initial placement in chemistry courses at the University of Findlay will be determined by ACT Math and Science section scores or SAT Verbal and Math section scores. The chemistry placement test is optional. Students may choose to take a chemistry placement test on campus to try to advance their chemistry placement.

Math


Students' initial placement in math courses at the University of Findlay will be determined by the ACT/ SAT math sub score.The mathematics placement test is optional. Students may choose to take a mathematics placement test on campus to try to improve their mathematics placement.

Spanish 

All students who have taken two or more years of Spanish are strongly encouraged to take the Spanish placement test in order to to determine the appropriate level course for continued language study at Findlay. Coursework in Spanish may satisfy University of Findlay CORE requirements, and students are encouraged to fulfill the CORE Plus requirements through study abroad and additional language study. Students who have taken four or more years of Spanish in high school are encouraged to add a Spanish major or minor to their primary major.

Writing
