Melissa Soto"University of Findlay offered a seamless transition of my credits from Owens and I didn't have to repeat any classes."

Transferred from Owens Community College

During Melissa Soto's time at Owens, many 4-year colleges and universities visited campus to recruit students. Soto explained that the University of Findlay offered a seamless transition of her credits from Owens, and she didn’t have to repeat any classes. “Being a student paying her way through college; for me, this was a huge benefit,” she said. Another factor that led her to UF was the scholarships she received because of her GPA.

Cody Crawford"I absolutely love the small class sizes, the one-on-one advising and the fact that all of the instructors are nice and welcoming."

--Cody Crawford, Business Management, transferred from Owens Community College

Cody Crawford started his higher education at another university after high school, but then took a break in order to raise his newborn son. Not surprisingly, Cody says his son is his inspiration. "I know it sounds cliche," he said, "but it's the truth."

Once he was able to continue his education, he enrolled at Owens Community College and spent two years in its business program. Upon completion, he decided to take the next step to finish his degree at the University of Findlay.

"I absolutely love the small class sizes, the one one one advising and the fact that all of the instructors are nice and welcoming," he said. Cody goes on to say, "if students looking to transfer from a two-year college are looking for something average, they can pretty much get that anywhere and any university would work. However, Findlay has a quality learning environment where you can be engaged. Findlay is an ideal choice."

Wendy Joliff

“I don’t think I would have finished had I not moved home and enrolled at the University of Findlay.”

--Wendy Jolliff  '95, Bachelor of Science in Biology, Associate Director for the Advanced Practice Providers and Lead Urology Physician Assistant at Promedica Toledo Hospital
Transferred from a public 4-year institution in Ohio

Wendy grew up in Findlay, Ohio. As a senior in high school, she thought she wanted a large college experience away from home, but after two years attending a big university away from home she was tired of being “just a body in a seat.”

“My most memorable moment at the University of Findlay is passing organic chemistry – truly! I had taken it at the university I was at originally in a classroom with 350 students with a graduate student who told us he would teach us chemistry if we taught him English. Moving home and retaking organic chemistry here and getting to know Jeff Jenson, who really turned everything around for me and helped me understand, gave me a completely different college experience from there on.”
