Athletic Training

3+2 Master of Athletic Training Program

University of Findlay's Master of Athletic Training program is voluntarily withdrawing as an active program at the University.

University of Findlay's 3+2 Master of Athletic Training (MAT) Program is designed for entering freshmen, transfer students or students who changed their major early in their undergraduate career.

The first three years of our program are the "pre-professional" years where you will complete the program prerequisites and bachelor’s degree requirements. Upon acceptance to the graduate program, the “professional” phase of the program will begin during the summer prior to your fourth year. At the end of your fourth year, you will receive a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in strength and conditioning, exercise science for health professions or wellness and exercise promotion. At the end of the fifth year, you will earn a Master of Athletic Training degree.

Early Assurance

Incoming freshmen with a strong high school GPA (3.5 on a 4.0 scale) and a 24 or higher on the ACT or a 1160 or higher on the SAT may be eligible for early assurance into the Master of Athletic Training Program.

Selection is based on the first applicants who meet these criteria and have declared their intentions to pursue the MAT Program.

Once enrolled at UF, students must also maintain the following during their pre-professional phase:
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in all MAT program prerequisite courses
  • Meet all other MAT program and University requirements
After qualified students have been accepted by the Office of Admissions, the AT program director will notify the students of their direct admission status for the MAT program.

Any student who does not meet these admission criteria or fails to maintain the criteria while they are in the pre-professional phase can also elect to pursue the other routes to admission. Click here to view the additional admission options for the Master of Athletic Training Program.

Please note: Admission is limited and not guaranteed to those meeting the minimum admission criteria. Admission to the University of Findlay DOES NOT Guarantee admission to the MAT.
If a prospective student is lacking any of the requirements by the application deadline, please contact Dr. Bart Welte at [email protected] to discuss your options. Furthermore, admission of qualified students will continue until all available positions have been filled.  Classes for the Professional Phase of the MAT program begin in mid-June.
