​Suggested Honors Program Timeline

To complete the Honors Program at the University of Findlay, we recommend students follow the academic timeline detailed below.  

Freshman Year 

  • Take one to two required courses 
  • Begin to identify areas of interest/faculty for research project 

Sophomore Year 

  • Take one to two required courses
  • Identify a research project 
  • You have the option of submitting your pre-proposal paperwork in the spring by March 15

Junior Year 

  • Finish coursework 
  • Select either Option 1 or Option 2 for your research project submissions timeline (if you didn't as a sophomore)
    • Option 1 - Submit proposal by October 15 (If pre-proposal was submitted in spring of sophomore year) 
    • Option 2 - Submit pre-proposal paperwork in the fall by October 15 AND submit proposal in the spring by March 15
    • You also have the option to start your research project in the spring if your proposal was approved in the fall (ensure all appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (​IACUC) work is complete)

Senior Year 

  • Finish any remaining coursework 
  • Option 1: Write up research project and present at fall convocation AND present at the Symposium on Scholarship and Creativit​​y 
  • Option 2: Start research in the fall if your proposal was approved in prior spring (ensure all appropriate IRB or IACUC​ work is complete) AND present at spring convocation and the Symposium on Scholarship and Creativity
  • All written papers submitted to the Honors Chair after approval by the Research Project Advisor
