New Events Added to Calendar

We have some exciting events planned for you this Fall! Take a look at the descriptions below, then head over to the Calendar page to keep up to date on times and locations.

General Information

Town Halls

Team members from the LMS Review project will be on hand to provide a status update and answer your most pressing questions. Are there Blackboard features you simply can't do without? Have you seen features in another LMS you wish we had? Are you worried about what more change will mean for our faculty and students? Stop by and let us know! Two events have been scheduled so far, one on September 15 and another on October 11. If you are not able to attend, please remember you can contact us with your questions at any time.

September Techfast: LMS Preview

UF Online and Information Technology Services will give an LMS Preview on Wednesday, September 27th, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Shafer Library Learning Commons. Join ITS, CTE, and UF Online for the September Techfast as we take a look at the Learning Management Systems being evaluated this fall: Brightspace, Canvas, and Blackboard. We'll show you a brief demo of each, highlight our favorite features, and provide more information on how you can get involved in the LMS review process. Breakfast foods and drinks will be provided, and ITS will have PancakeBot running and making pancakes for attendees. To register, fill out the workshop registration form: www.bit.ly/FindlayATSWorkshops

November Nerd Lunch: Pilot Announcement

Join us for lunch as we unveil the LMS chosen for our Spring Pilot. Team members from the LMS Review projct will be available to answer questions about the platform and the pilot process in general. This event is scheduled for November 29 at noon. To register, fill out the workshop registration form: www.bit.ly/FindlayATSWorkshops

Product Demonstrations

Representatives from Blackboard, D2L, and Instructure will be on campus the week of October 2, 2017 to show us how their learning environment works and highlight key features current customers swear by to make their lives easier. There will be a combination of open sessions and closed-door meetings with the LMS Review project team. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend the open sessions and fill out an evaluation after each demonstration. All open sessions will be recorded and made available on this website for later viewing. Here's the tentative schedule, head over to the calendar for exact times and locations:

Instructure's Canvas - Monday, Oct 2

9-11a General LMS Demo (open session)
12-2p Implementation/Migration Discussion (Core/UIS ONLY)
3-5p Hands-on (Core/TaskForce)

Blackboard - Tuesday Oct 3

10-12p General LMS Demo (open session)

D2L's Brightspace - Wednesday, Oct 4 *UPDATED*

9-11a General LMS Demo (open session)

October Open Labs - *UPDATED*

  • Week of Oct 9th: Monday, Tuesday, Friday from 10-12 and 1-3 or by appointment
  • Week of Oct 16th: Monday, Tuesday, Friday from 10-12 and 1-3 or by appointment

We know it's difficult to judge a product based on a 90min. demo. Throughout the month of October, LMS Review project members will be available to answer your questions and help you click around a "sandbox" course. While our attention will be focused on the faculty and student task force members, all are welcome to attend. The evaluation tool will be available on our website for those who did not submit one after the vendor demos or wanted more time to compare. Again, check the calendar for exact times and locations.
