This workshop is a great opportunity to not only look at your options but also experience them.
The University of Findlay’s Creative Summer Workshop for Teens offers the chance to see your ideas come to life with encouragement and inspiration from UF faculty. The workshop will consist of one full day of activities related to your area of interest.
Areas of focus include:
ART - STUDIO ART
What's better than keeping your art in a sketchbook? Keeping your art in a sketchbook that you made! You'll work with
Valerie Escobedo, assistant professor of art, as she spends time teaching you how to make an 8” X 10” hard bound sketchbook from scratch.
DIGITAL MEDIA - VIDEO PRODUCTION
Work with UF's Media Technology Specialists to learn about video production and digital film making. You'll learn from the best! Aaron Osborne and Ben Walton are responsible for most of the content you will find on the ufindlay YouTube channel. Here are some examples of what they do at UF:
Football Entrance Video 2013
Basketball Mission Statement
ENGLISH - CREATIVE WRITING
Do you love to read and write? So does Marianna Hofer, associate professor of English. Join her in reading samples of poems to get your creative juices flowing. She'll walk you through some writing exercises and help you create a writing masterpiece!
GLOBAL CULTURE - INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES
Whether you're taking a second language or not, the reality of business today is that you may visit at least one other country. Sean Farmer may be a new instructor here at UF, but she's spent several years living in Japan. She is enthusiastic and would love to share what it's like to be a stranger in a strange land. You'll also get a dose of several different cultures with games and dancing as well.
PSYCHOLOGY - THOUGHTS/BEHAVIOR
Are you intrigued by inkblots and pictures that trick your mind? Join
Dr. Adam Larson, assistant professor of Psychology, and explore human thought and behavior using visual illusions, films and pictures.
THEATRE - ACTING/PLAY CREATION
Do you like to act or write plays? Spend the day with Dr. Christopher Matsos
, assistant professor of Theatre, and work on taking your skills to the next level. You'll even have the opportunity to create an original play.
The workshop is ideal for incoming high school sophomores and juniors, but anyone between the ages of 15 and 18 is welcome to attend.
