Visiting Scholar program

Our 2014-2015 Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing Scholar will be Dr. Cynthia L. Selfe

Every year, Master of Arts in Rhetoric and Writing (MARW) students will have the opportunity to work with a Visiting Scholar in the MARW program for a two-day intensive workshop each fall. The MARW Program will host two Visiting Scholars during 2014-2015. Dr. Kristine Blair, professor of English at Bowling Green State University and editor of Computers and Composition and Computers and Composition Online, is our Fall 2014 Visiting Speaker. In the spring, the MARW program will host Ohio State University Distinguished Humanities Professor Cynthia L. Selfe, a founder in the field of computers and writing. Both speakers will be teaching MARW students strategies for composing in digital environments and effective academic writing habits for publication and presentation.

Dr. Selfe is Distinguished Professor for the Humanities at Ohio State University and the first woman and the first English teacher ever to receive the EDUCOM Medal for innovative computer use in higher education. She is a past co-editor of Computers and Composition and co-directs OSU's annual Digital Media and Composition (DMAC) summer institute. Dr. Selfe will be spending two days with MARW graduate students during the 2014-2015 year in hands-on workshops to help them use technology in their teaching and will also provide publishing and writing tips.
