On-the-job training and first-hand experience through internships are one important way in which English majors prepare for a future career. The possibilities for internships are as varied as the individuals within the major.
Recent English majors have held internships as:
- Teaching assistants
- Editors/writers for Stuff Magazine in New York City
- Technical writers for various community agencies
- Newspaper reporters
- Editors for our campus literary journal
- Assistants to UF's Director of the Writing Center
If you choose an internship option, your advisor will confer with you to select an internship that best fits your emphasis and future goals.
