Access Databases Off Campus

Primary Method for Off-Campus Access

To access article and other databases off campus, type in your UFnet account information (email, blackboard login) when you see the UF Resource Authentication page.  You will be prompted to enter this information when you click on a number of resources on the Shafer Library homepage  plus on the UF Libraries Research Guides page when you select Browse All Databases.

Update 8/2015: Firefox: Unable to Log In Off Campus (FIXED)

The earlier issue in July that prevented access to databases off-campus when using Firefox by installing the Disable-DHE Add-on' is resolved. The plug in is no longer required and should be removed from the browser if you have it installed.

To remove this add-on or any other add-on, please follow these instructions:

  1. On the upper right corner of Firefox, select the burger button which looks like this:

  2. Select the Add-Ons icon which looks like a puzzle piece.

  3. Here you will find the DIsable-DHE add on in the list.

  4. To the right, click the Remove button to uninstall that add-on.

  5. You may do this for any add-on that is installed in Firefox.

  6. Close the Add-Ons Manager tab.

If you have any questions pertaining to this, please contact us at 419-434-4357 or send an email to helpdesk@findlay.edu.

Secondary Methods for Off-Campus Access

If you cannot log into your UFnet account, you should still be able to access most of Shafer Library's  databases by authenticating through OPAL or OhioLINK.   You will need to use the 14-digit barcode number on the backside of your Student ID (Oiler OneCard & University ID) beginning with 40633 ....

If you still have problems accessing please let us know.
