Location:  Lea Gallery, The Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion

Title:  “Converging In-Sight” Photography & Travel as Pilgrimage
Theme:  Over twenty years of travel experiences and 17 working trips to Nepal and Tibet, Carole Elchert has amassed a body of photographic work that represents her journeys to four continents:  North America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.  With the camera as the vehicle of pilgrimage, she photographed landscapes, cultural habitats or "innerscapes," and portraits.  The exhibit presents a singular artistic vision that anyone can gain insights and personal transformation through the "seeing" function of the lens of a camera.  Her "in-sights" as a photographer are expressed in four words--return, remembering, renewal, re-visioning--and act as photographic themes of the exhibit and philosophical descriptions of the creative process.
Exhibit will be on display from Sept. 23-Oct. 25, 2013.
