Students In Need

The University of Findlay’s offerings to help students with their basic needs continues to evolve. As students' needs are met, they can better focus on their education in a healthy, holistic way. We realize that there are situations in life that are difficult to endure, and we want to resource our students to help them focus on their academic careers and not on pressing emergency needs.

As we move forward, The University has created an application process where students will complete an online application, and then a committee will review their responses and work to provide the students with resources to meet their needs.

If you cannot complete the application electronically or have any questions, please call the Oiler Success Center at 419-434-5680 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday or email [email protected].

The University has implemented numerous programs to help students in need

Swipe Out Hunger

Swipe Out Hunger is a joint initiative between Sodexo and Findlay that works to end food insecurity among college students. Unfortunately, one in three college students faces food insecurity at some point in their college career. The goal of Swipe Out Hunger is to help combat that need.

Each student who applies and is approved will receive six meal swipes from our Meal Swipe Bank. A student who already has a meal plan will not be eligible for the meal swipe program, but they are welcome to contact a Findlay staff member to provide resource referrals for other needs they may have.

Laptop Loaner Program

Due to the graciousness of the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund for Mental Health, Findlay has acquired 10 new laptops to serve as short-term loaners for students who need access to a working computer.

Examples of appropriate laptop loaner recipients could include people whose screen is cracked, who are doing their homework on a phone/tablet only, who are injuring themselves because of a severe crack on their screen, whose laptop does not charge, who do not have a laptop, etc.

University of Findlay Food Pantry

The University of Findlay has opened a campus pantry in partnership with Student Government Association, Student Affairs, Buford Center for Diversity and Service, Sodexo, Physical Plant, and Chopin Hall. The pantry has some shelf-stable groceries and toiletries.

Student Emergency Fund

The UF Student Emergency Fund is designed to help the University of Findlay students who are facing emergency financial needs. This fund is made possible by the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF III) during the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Student Emergency Fund provides financial support in the form of a grant to a limited number of University of Findlay students who experience unexpected financial hardship resulting from unexpected emergency situations including, but not limited to:
  • accidents,
  • illness,
  • extenuating family circumstances,
  • an act of nature, or
  • other extreme difficulties.
