The University of Findlay is committed to resuming in-person classes and residential living this fall.
One of the hallmarks of a Findlay education is the experiential learning we provide outside of a traditional classroom setting, and we have heard from so many of our students and families about how important this on-campus educational experience is. We agree. However, our fall semester will include adjustments to our campus spaces and classroom environments to help ensure our students can focus on their studies and campus experiences safely.
To plan for a safe fall semester, the University has put together a workgroup, the Oiler Start Safe & Stay Safe Initiative, supported by UF's nationally-recognized All Hazards Training Center to develop a comprehensive safety program based on social distancing in classrooms, labs, residence halls, campus apartments, and other facilities. This group is working very hard over the summer and we appreciate the input we have received from many in our campus community already. Please know that we are working to make the best decisions we can with the information we have available in this ever-changing situation that we are all navigating through.
The University is already enhancing and increasing the frequency of cleaning of spaces and surfaces throughout campus. Over the summer, plexiglass barriers are being installed in high traffic services areas including the Business Office and Shafer Library. To ensure the health and safety of campus visitors, the Office of Admissions lobby is being updated, and tour schedules are being modified to allow for social distancing.
In addition, the University is utilizing the expertise of our experienced health professions faculty who hold advanced degrees in medical and allied health fields to provide their expertise to Findlay's efforts to prepare the campus to safely resume in-person education for the fall semester.
We will provide regular updates on the good work of the group with information on what you can expect for fall semester. All of the information will be available on this website. Our goal is that our students, employees, and families feel informed and safe as we get ready to start an exciting fall semester.
