Counseling

Complete Counseling

The Department of Education offers three types of counseling resources for students. The Entrance Counseling and Exit Counseling are required for students that borrow Federal Direct Loans.

Entrance Counseling

The entrance interview is required of students who may be borrowing funds through the Direct (Stafford) Loan or Grad PLUS Loan program. The interview is designed to acquaint you with your rights and responsibilities as a borrower.  You will need to submit the counseling once you have successfully completed a quiz as part of the interview.  Be sure you electronically sign it before you submit the form. The Financial Aid Office will document that you have successfully completed the entrance interview before disbursing any loan funds to your student account.

Exit Counseling

Exit Counseling is a requirement for students to complete at the conclusion of your work here at the University of Findlay. This offers students specific information about the borrower's rights and responsibilities as well as specific repayment information. Once students withdraw or graduate, the Financial Aid Office will send out a request for you to complete this and instructions on how to complete this task. Please direct any questions about interview content to the Financial Aid Office, located in Old Main, Room 116.

Financial Awareness

Understanding how to use budgets and how to implement financial planning strategies is key to paying off your student loans quickly and having a sound financial future. The Department of Education offers a great resource to students to become aware of the long-term impacts of borrowing and how you can plan now for a healthy financial life.

TEACH Grant Counseling

If you received a TEACH Grant while enrolled at The University of Findlay, please use this link, Federal Student Aid , to be directed to the TEACH Grant Exit Interview. You must complete the interview process to ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a TEACH Grant recipient.  Remember, failure to meet the conditions to earn the grant will result in the grant becoming a loan that you will need to repay with interest.
