  • Dr. Johnson has been an occupational therapist since 1991. She transitioned into academia as an adjunct faculty at the University of Findlay in 2018 and as full-time faculty in 2019.  Her clinical experience has specialized in the pediatric population in Canada and the United States, working in inpatient, outpatient, home care and school settings. She also has supervisory experience in a hospital-based outpatient pediatric rehabilitation setting overseeing a multidisciplinary team. She has earned specialty certification in the administration of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) and has completed the 8-week pediatric Neurodevelopmental Treatment training (NDT). Dr. Johnson's research interest focuses on service delivery models and the occupational need of children and families who are underserved and marginalized in the traditional health care system. The occupational needs that are the focus of her scholarship include feeding, sensory regulation and functional literacy.
