​University of Findlay ITS offers 3D printing services. We have a LulzBot Taz 6, 2 Prusas, and an Oolago Jupiter available for your printing needs. If you want to search for designs, try looking at open-source websites such as Thingiverse or Yeggi​. However, if you want to DIY, Tinkercad is free computer-automated design software that allows you to create 3D designs. Students can also get Autodesk Fusion 360 for free; the software is slightly more complex but allows for better designs than Tinkercad. However, Tinkercad is also free and provides many video tutorials for getting started. ITS encourages users to try making their own designs.

​LulzBot Taz 6


LulzBot Printer
​The Taz 6 can print an object up to 11 in. x 11 in. x 10 in. Cura is the printing software used to send the designs to the printer. ​We have the following plastics available to use on this printer:
  • ​PLA
  • nGen

  • Nylon​
  • ABS
  • Glow in the dark

​The Prusa can print objects with layer heights from .05 - .35 mm using 1.75 mm diameter filament. Removable magnetic steel sheets allows for easy removal of finished prints. There is a wide range of thermoplastics that can be used, including PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS, PC (Polycarbonate), CPE, PVA/BVOH, PVB, HIPS, PP (Polypropylene), Flex, nGen, Nylon, Carbon filled, Woodfill and other filled materials.

Elegoo Jupiter

​​The Elegoo Jupiter uses resin to print high quality objects with a layer thickness of .01 - .2 mm.

The build volume of this printer is 277.85 mm X 156.06 mm X 300 mm
(10.94 X 6.14 X 11.81 in).





Maker Gear PrinterWe also have a 3D scanner by EinScan. This scanner will allow you to scan an object, and the software will convert it to a 3D design file. The EinScan uses a rotating turntable. Here are the dimensions for EinScan:

  • Minimum Scan Dimensions: 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.2 inches
  • Maximum Scan Dimensions: 27.6 x 27.6 x 27.6 inches 
  • ≤0.1mm Accuracy
Currently, the printers are housed in the basement of the Shafer Library in the Makerspace. If you are in the library and want to see the printers, stop by anytime during work hours.​​​
