Writing Center

writing centerThe Writing Center is a free service to students that is designed to serve as a sounding board, idea generator and overall writing support for a variety of writing projects and classes ranging from writing business communication, letters of intent and short essays to thesis work and term papers.

We are here to help you at any stage of your writing assignment - from brainstorming, outlining, writing, and revising as well as citation of sources.

Types of Appointments

  • In-Person scheduled 45-minute one-one with a tutor.

  • Email Appointment: During an email appointment, you will email your paper and assignment sheet to your tutor before the scheduled appointment time.  The tutor will provide comments on your paper using the Microsoft Word Comment Feature and return them to you via email following the scheduled appointment time.  Since you don't have to be present for the appointment (you only have to send your material ahead of time), you can even schedule an appointment for a time when you are in class or working!

  • Blackboard Collaborate Appointment: A Blackboard Collaborate appointment is a live, interactive session through Blackboard using technology along the lines of Skype. You will schedule an appointment, and although you will not be visiting the Writing Center, you will need to be logged on to Blackboard during the scheduled appointment time. You will email your paper to the tutor before the scheduled appointment time and during the session, they will share their screen with you to work on the paper together.

  • Walk-In Hours: Walk-in hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
