Pharm. D./Equine

Pharmacy student with horse

With our outstanding facilities, training and education in western, hunter/jumper, dressage and eventing, The University of Findlay has set the standard for excellence in equestrian programs for more than 30 years. Findlay equestrian graduates are recognized internationally for their expertise in the horse industry.

We have a number of pharmacy students who also have a passion for equestrian sports. The pharmacy/equine dual degree is an excellent way to combine pharmacy with an equestrian passion whether it is for fulfillment of personal goals or career advancement opportunities such as veterinary pharmacy. The pharmacy/equine dual degree option provides students with an Associate of Science in Equestrian. We recommend that students start during year two and complete the associate degree during years two through four.

Having a degree in a program such as our equestrian studies is an excellent stepping-stone for student pharmacists pursuing a career related to animal care. Within this program there are opportunities for instruction using the student’s own horse or university-owned horses. From early in the program, some core requirements for the pharmacy degree also serve toward degree requirements in the equestrian program, and subsequent elective courses may be chosen to fit both programs.

As a student pursuing equestrian studies as a second degree, you will be assigned a secondary (equestrian program) faculty adviser to assist with your academic plan and to guide you through the courses/program. You will not be charged additional tuition up to 18 credit hours per semester.
