At Findlay, you will have regular access to networking opportunities with internationally recognized leaders, high-level business executives and entrepreneurs. Our network of internship opportunities at many top-level organizations often lead to permanent job placement as well. We are also fortunate to have many alumni actively involved with the University and use their connections to offer opportunities for job shadowing, internships and in some cases, employment opportunities.   

In addition to your coursework and internships, you will have opportunities to gain experience outside of the classroom. Below are business-related student organizations, clubs and various opportunities that you can take advantage of to boost your resume and gain experience prior to graduation:

Study Abroad Opportunities

Expand your cultural experiences and learn global business practices by studying in places such as India and Japan. 

Oiler Enterprises

The mission of Oiler Enterprises is to provide students with opportunities to work in and run their own business, enabling students to gain valuable life and business skills, enhancing their academic experience, and preparing them for productive careers. Any student at the university is welcome to get involved in some manner, whether it as an employee, manager or developer of a business. Students need not be in the College of Business to take advantage of this opportunity. Students interested in developing a business are encouraged to write a business plan and present the idea to the Oiler Enterprises Board for approval.

Dana Scholars

The University of Findlay College of Business Dana Chair/Scholar Program provides an opportunity for business students to connect to higher education with the real world of business. A 1991 donation from the Dana Corporation established the Dana Chair to utilize the ”Executive-in-Residence” concept on campus.  The program officially started in 1995 with the original intent that each academic year’s Dana Chair would provide leadership in bonding education and business.  

The Dana Chair serves as a team builder and provides leadership in the undergraduate business program.  Dana Scholars are chosen by College of Business faculty and, as such, are recognized as outstanding students in the College of Business for their academic and leadership skills. 

Delta Mu Delta 

Delta Mu Delta is the exclusive business honor society recognized by the ACBSP that encourages academic excellence of students at qualifying colleges and universities to create a DMD community that fosters the well-being of its individual members and the business community through life-time membership.

Rotaract 

Rotaract clubs are part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level but knows no limits in its outreach. Rotaractors have access to the many resources of Rotary International (RI) and The Rotary Foundation. Rotary International provides the administrative support that helps Rotaract clubs thrive.


ENACTUS (formerly S.I.F.E.)   

Enactus is a program which allows college students from around the world to make and incorporate business ideas that can range from recycling programs and education on their college campus to teaching people to farm more productively and helping them sell their crops. The goal of SIFE is to help others to make an economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable impact through the use of business tools and techniques. 


The Empowerment of Business Oriented Women

The University of Findlay Organization for the Empowerment of Business Oriented Women seeks to empower business-oriented females by promoting networking, education, and opportunities between any interested students and outstanding industry professionals.​​

Program-Specific Student Organizations


Many of the following student organizations are open to students of any major which allows you to learn about and gain experience in other areas that complement your primary major.


Accounting Club

The Institute of Managerial Accounting (IMA) Student Club furthers the objectives of the IMA on the student level. The IMA provides an environment for research, practice improvement, education, knowledge sharing, and the encouragement of high ethical and business practices in management accounting and finance.

IMA Accounting Honor Society

The IMA Accounting Honor Society (IAHS) recognizes and honors academic achievement in the study of accounting and provides an opportunity for students to differentiate themselves as they begin their career journey. IAHS membership is available to all students who meet the eligibility criteria. 

Chartered Financial Analyst Institute Research

The University took home first place at the regional Chartered Financial Analyst Institute Research Challenge in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2013. A team of both undergraduate and graduate students researched, prepared and presented a financial analysis to a panel of professional financial analysts. UF has competed in this event since 2009.

Marketing Club

Marketing Club activities include Extreme Marketing Makeovers – (team competition to develop marketing ideas for small businesses ), SWOT teams – (develop quick solutions for small businesses), assisting small businesses, on-campus activities like Deck the Trees and more!  

Six Sigma Green Belt

Offered as part of a master's class (MBA 685), Six Sigma Green Belt Certification teaches a statistical approach to business problem solving, which can be used to solve problems like inefficiency in the manufacturing industry. The coursework and preparation for the certification helps students develop and advance their statistic skills and apply them to practical business and manufacturing settings.

Sport and Event Business Experience Club (SpEC)

SpEC gives students an opportunity to gain real-world opportunities and volunteer experience inside the world of business, events and sports.
