​​​​​​​Junior Admit Program

The Junior Admit program is a six-year program.

  • Includes three years of pre-professional study (general education and pre​requisites)
  • Plus three years of professional study (Physical Therapy program curriculum)

For those students who will complete a junior admit pathway they will complete the following at the University of Findlay in order to apply to Findlay's DPT program. ​​​​​

  • Bachelors in Exercise Science junior admit requirements
  • All university general education requirements (CORE+)
  • All PT program prerequisites
  • 15 credit hours of 300-400 level​ courses in one area of study
  • A minimum of 93.5 total credit hours​

Choosing the junior admit pathway into DPT school at UF means your plan will be to complete 3 years of undergrad here at UF and then complete DPT school here at UF. Students earn a Bachelor of Exercise Science degree after the fourth year of study.​


Applicants have the option to major and minor in any area of study for their bachelor’s degree. Regardless of the major & minor, the applicant will need to meet the DPT program prerequisite requirements listed below. ​

 

Junior Application Admission Requirements

  1. Minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0, and a minimum pre​requisite​ GPA of 3.2.
  2. ​Students must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours of 300-400 level courses in one content area and complete a total of 93.5 credit hours prior to matriculation into the DPT program.

  3. ​​Must complete 40 hours of observation in two different types of clinical settings in physical therapy by the time of application to the DPT program.
    • ​​One setting must be in an Inpatient setting (hospital, inpatient rehabilitatio​n or skilled nursing facility
    • The second setting is the student's setting of choice.
    • A minimum of 20 hours is required at each clinical site.
  4. ​​​​Complete the Physical Therapy Central Application Service (PTCAS​)​
    • Letters of recommendation (2)
      • ​College instructor & PT with whom you observed
    • Essay
    • Service and community involvement
    • ​Official transcripts

Prior to admission into the professional program, the Junior Admit applicants must have completed all of the University CORE+ general education requirements and the following prerequisites:

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I w/ Lab
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology II w/ Lab
  • General Chemistry I w/ Lab
  • General Chemistry II w/ Lab
  • Exercise​ Physiology
  • Elementary Statistics
  • General Physics I w/ Lab
  • General Physics II w/ Lab​
  • General Psychology​​


At the time of application, six of the nine prerequisites, with their corresponding lab courses, must be completed and all prerequisite course​s must be completed prior to matriculation into the program.​

Application Process:

  • Apply online to the DPT Traditional Program using the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS)​
  • PTCAS applications cycle
    • Application Opens: June 15
    • Priority deadline: October 1
    • ​Final deadline: February 1

  • All PTCAS materials should be submitted six weeks prior to the application deadline.

  • There is a $60 supplemental fee to apply, which can be submitted through our online form

  • Applicants who apply by the October 1st  deadline will be given priority status in our admissions process as compared to applicants who apply later. The University of Findlay DPT program encourages students to apply by the priority admissions deadline, October 1st. ​​

  • Students must also update their transcripts in PTCAS with final fall semester grades once posted by the institution.
