About Watterson Scholars

The Watterson Scholars program is a four-year, transdisciplinary undergraduate initiative housed within the University of Findlay’s Watterson Center for Ethical Leadership. Designed to prepare students for purposeful lives of service and leadership, the program emphasizes vocational exploration, ethical leadership, civic engagement, and character development.

Through close collaboration with community partners, Watterson Scholars gain the tools, experiences, and perspectives to address complex challenges while building meaningful connections within Findlay and beyond.

Program Highlights

The Watterson Scholars program at the University of Findlay is a transformative experience that develops students as leaders of character, purpose, and impact. Through reflective exploration, interdisciplinary learning, and hands-on community engagement, scholars build the skills to address complex real-world challenges. The program culminates in a capstone research project focused on local “wicked problems,” allowing students to apply their learning in meaningful ways while making a lasting difference in their communities.

Vocational Discernment

A series of reflective retreats to help students explore their passions, strengths, and callings.

Capstone Research Project

Senior-year research addressing a “wicked problem” facing Findlay-Hancock County, presented to community stakeholders.

Transdisciplinary Learning
