Air Quality Advisory

Learn about the current conditions and safety precautions for the University of Findlay community.

Air Quality Advisory

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory due to smoke from Canadian wildfires affecting Ohio. Air quality across our region has reached the Hazardousrange, and current readings in the Findlay area indicate conditions that may pose health risks for everyone—not just sensitive individuals.

Current Conditions

  • Air quality in the Findlay area is currently in the Hazardous (Maroon AQI 301+) category.
  • At this level, the U.S. EPA recommends that everyone limit outdoor exposure and remain indoors whenever possible.
  • Individuals with asthma, respiratory conditions, heart disease, older adults, pregnant individuals, and children are at increased risk of adverse health effects.

Recommendations for the Campus Community

  • Limit time outdoors and avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
  • Coaches, camp leaders, and event organizers should strongly consider moving practices, workouts, and other activities indoors.
  • Keep windows and doors closed when possible.

Watch for Symptoms of Smoke Exposure

  • Coughing
  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing
  • Eye, nose, or throat irritation
  • Chest discomfort
  • Headache or unusual fatigue

If symptoms develop, move indoors immediately. Individuals experiencing persistent or worsening symptoms should contact their healthcare provider.

The University will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day and share additional information if operational adjustments become necessary.
