Occupational Therapy Capstone
An Individualized, Experiential Learning Opportunity
The Doctoral Capstone at the University of Findlay is a culminating component of the OTD program. This 14-week immersive experience, paired with the capstone project, provides students with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills in a focused area of interest.
Individualized Areas of Focus
Students work closely with faculty to design a capstone that aligns with their professional goals and interests. Areas of focus may include:
- Program Development
- Education
- Clinical Skills
- Research skills
- Administration
- Policy development
- Advocacy
- Leadership
Capstone Settings
Capstone experiences are completed in a variety of settings, which may include:
- Community agencies and nonprofit organizations
- Emerging or non-traditional practice environments
- Hospitals and rehabilitation centers
- Schools and pediatric settings
Students also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new capstone sites in collaboration with faculty and community partners.
Faculty Support and Mentorship
Throughout the capstone process, students are supported by a dedicated capstone team who provide guidance in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the experience and project.
