Prepare for veterinary school through science coursework and direct animal experience. Findlay’s Animal Science Pre-Vet Option combines study of animal health with hands-on learning across species.
- Work with animals early. Begin practical animal handling in your first year with guidance from animal science faculty and licensed veterinarians.
- Build scientific preparation. Study animal health, physiology, nutrition, genetics, and production while working toward veterinary school prerequisites.
- Use dedicated facilities. Explore Findlay’s farm complexes and the Dr. C. Richard Beckett Animal Science Building, and consider a seminar that supports veterinary school applications and interviews.
Students who meet specific requirements and gain early admission to a veterinary program may have an option to complete a Findlay bachelor’s degree after their first year of veterinary study.

Course Requirements
Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science must complete the following curriculum.

Animal Science Facilities
University of Findlay’s Animal Science Building and Pre-Veterinary Barn are located at the Western Farm, just seven miles south of campus. Built in 2009, the 31,000-square-foot Animal Science Building features modern labs and classrooms that support livestock programs, breeding, and research.
During your first two years, you’ll spend a lot of time at these facilities learning hands-on skills like animal handling, nutrition, restraint, and behavior — building a strong foundation in animal agriculture to prepare you for your future career.
