Course Requirements

Students earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry must complete the following curriculum.

Hands-On Experiences

Our chemistry faculty and advisors are committed to hands-on learning and personal mentorship. You won’t just study chemistry — you’ll practice it. As part of your degree, you’ll work directly with faculty on research projects in areas like organic, analytical, inorganic, physical, and biochemistry. 

Internships are strongly encouraged, and the department will help connect you with opportunities both on and off campus.

Clubs and Activities

  • Student Section of American Chemical Society – This student club links our students with social and career development opportunities offered by the world’s largest professional organization for chemists.    
  • Chemistry Club – This student club is open to all UF students and provides a way for them to engage in service activities, science outreach, and chemical education both on- and off-campus.   
  • Pre-Med Club – This student club prepares members for careers in medicine and related fields in the health professions, including MCAT training and in-person visits with representatives from health professions programs. 
  • Students within the Chemistry program also have the opportunity to travel to a number of regional and national conferences to present their work.  These include: 
    • The National and Regional meetings of the American Chemical Society (ACS)  
    • The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) 
    • The Ohio Academy of Science (OAS) annual meeting
