The University of Findlay's Intensive English Language Program has earned 10-year reaccreditation from the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA).
Findlay is only the second university in Ohio to receive the 10-year status and one of seven IELP programs in Ohio to be accredited by CEA. For students who would like to improve their English proficiency or if their TOEFL or IELTS test score is lower than the admission criteria of the program they are applying to at Findlay, they can enroll in the Intensive English Langauge Program. Below is information about the criteria for the program and the different levels within in.
What level of IELP will I be placed in?
Undergraduate students are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo test score as part of your application to the University of Findlay. Your score will determine if you "test out" of Intensive English Language Program (IELP) and can be directly admitted into your undergraduate or graduate program.
We strongly encourage our graduate students to take either the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test to assist with appropriate placement. Please consult your admissions counselor to see what score requirements are for direct entry to your chosen program.
Please note that due to new USCIS government regulations, students will no longer receive a "Conditional Admission" I-20. If you are required to take IELP, you will receive an IELP only I-20. Once you complete the IELP requirement, you will then be issued an I-20 that reflects your new program of study.
If your score is not high enough for a direct admit, you can use this chart to help you determine at what level of IELP you will need to take. Note that each "level" of IELP is equal to one semester.

What Do I Need to Be Considered for Admission?
- Application stating IELP ONLY and term desired at Findlay. You can fill out an online application here.
- Financial documents required prior to issuance of I-20
- Passport
What Do I Need to Receive My I-20?
- Create an eShip Global express shipment label (you will need your referenced ID number).
- An I-20 will be issued within 5-7 business days upon confirmed payment for eShip label. Note: eShip Global only allows us to send ONE I-20 per express package
