Position Details
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Part-Time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team. As a PTA, you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist in treating patients with physical disabilities, injuries, or conditions. The role involves helping patients achieve improved mobility and physical functioning goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in Patient Care: Help implement treatment plans prescribed by physical therapists, including exercises, modalities (heat, cold, electrical stimulation), and manual therapy techniques.
· Patient Education: Provide instruction to patients on proper body mechanics, stretching exercises, and safe movement techniques to promote healing and prevent further injury.
· Document Patient Progress: Accurately record patient responses to therapy, including improvements, challenges, and any changes in physical condition.
· Monitor Patient's Status: Regularly assess patient’s progress and report any changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
· Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all therapy equipment is in good working order, clean, and ready for patient use.
· Assist in Administrative Tasks: Support clerical and administrative functions, such as scheduling appointments, patient intake, and preparing patient files.
· Collaborate with Team Members: Work closely with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
Work Environment:
· This position will be part-time, with flexible hours based on patient needs.
· You will work in a clinical setting, interacting with patients of various age groups and conditions.
· Physical demands may include assisting patients with lifting or moving, standing, walking, and performing certain physical therapy exercises.
Qualifications:
· Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
· Certification/Licensure: Valid state PTA license (or in the process of obtaining) as required.
· Experience: Previous experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant is preferred but not required.
Skills/ Other requirements:
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
o Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
o Knowledge of physical therapy modalities and equipment.
o Ability to assist patients with mobility, exercise routines, and functional training.
o Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
o Willingness to learn new skills, and be adaptable and flexible.
o Team-oriented individual with the desire to provide new ideas and share responsibilities for the success of the clinic.
