About OCR
The University of Findlay is committed to creating a safe environment for everyone. The Office for Civil Rights’ goal is to support a campus culture that celebrates healthy relationships and mutual respect. We commit to respond to incidents, support individuals through University processes and educate our campus community.
The Civil Rights team is made up of one coordinator, two deputies, nine investigators and an entire education and prevention committee. All of these individuals are committed to ending harassment, discrimination, sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual violence and other forms of sexual misconduct. All team members are highly trained and are committed to eliminating, preventing, and addressing all instances of prohibited conduct. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
Prevention & Education is provided to campus through Oilers Changing Campus Culture (OC3). We believe that education about topics related to Non-Discriminaiton and Title IX can empower our community to change the campus culture. Our staff programming board for OC3 carries out a robust schedule of programs and events that are grounded in theory, data from our bi-annual campus climate survey, and the resources available across campus. The OC3 student group aides professional staff in these efforts.
The Office of Civil Rights is open and available for in-person and virtual meetings. Meetings may be scheduled by calling the office at 419-434-4739 or emailing civilrights@findlay.edu.
